Following our policy of ongoing investment and our strategic commitment to sustainability, we have recently installed a new MDO machine in PLASTIGAUR, Gipuzkoa-based company and leader in the development of sustainable flexible film and packaging.
The new MDO machine uses preheating, orientation, stabilisation and cooling processes to produce a range of OPE (oriented polyethylene) films. These films are designed to create mono-material packaging made of fully recyclable polyethylene (PE), replacing multi-material structures that are exceedingly difficult to recycle.
The product enhances polyethylene properties by giving it BOPP-like characteristics: improved mechanical properties, rigidity, strength and shrinkage, optical features, transparency and gloss. Packaging is optimised and dimensional stability and flatness enhance printability.
MDO technology is therefore a solution to meet the market’s new demands:
- A GREEN and sustainable solution. PE films laminated with MDO technology are designed to be fully recyclable.
- An EFFICIENT solution. Packaging can be printed and produced with an excellent moisture barrier.
- Protects the product with the lowest environmental impact.
MDO products will include EKOGAUR, PLASTIGAUR’s sustainable range of the most environmentally friendly flexible film and packaging solutions.
From PLASTIGAUR we thus confirm our strategic commitment to sustainability and to the circular economy, while continuing to offer our customers the latest market innovations with quality assurance accredited by independent third parties and certifications in eco-design, the environment, the circular economy, quality and a long list of others.
Investment made thanks to the support of the Basque Government’s Deputy Ministry of Environment.
